Busy Busy

So I'm not really sure where the last couple of weeks have gone. Work is getting very busy, so I'm there late almost every night, and weekends are just jam packed right now...so I guess that's my answer.

I have a funny story to tell about Ainsley. It just happened tonight but similar things have happened in the past. We were sitting at dinner and Clif and I were talking like we usually do when we've finished. Lately Ainsley is not really down with the after dinner talk. She starts saying "Mommy, enuff!" or "Daddy, top it!" So she started that and Clif said "Ainsley, I am talking to Mommy, you need to wait." Ainsley then took this opportunity to explain to Clif that "No, daddy, no talk to mommy." Then she would point to me and say "Dat Ainsley Mommy...not you Mommy." She just repeated this every time Clif started talking again.

I swear sometimes it's just impossible not to laugh.

Well the week is just about over...thank goodness. And then just one week before a three day weekend!!! Oh it's the small things in life that make it worthwhile.

Little Miss Cuteness

We got our camera back today and we transferred all the pictures from Denise's camera to a CD at CVS so we were able to load them to the computer. So now I'll have pictures and I have a few cute stories to tell about Ainsley.

This weekend Carolyn and Mike came to babysit Ainsley so Clif and I could go to a wedding. Then we spent the rest of the weekend just hanging out with our visitors and relaxing. Today Ainsley got to ride the train at Short Pump for the first time. She was very excited and immediately asked for "More?!"

So there are a few stories that I haven't thought to write about until this afternoon. They basically just involve Ainsley being totally cute and amazing...what else?

A few weeks ago Clif and I were changing the hinges and handles on our cabinets in the kitchen and we had to stand on chairs to reach the top level. Ainsley was running around doing her own thing and then she'd stop and say "Mommy, what you doning up dere?" (what are you doing up there) and I'd say, "Mommy's fixing the cabinets." She'd look at me, then look at Clif and say "Daddy, what you doning up dere?" and he'd say "We're fixing the cabinets." Then she'd stare at us and finally say, "Nooooo, Mommy, what you doning up there?" and this would just continue until something else caught her attention.

The second story happened today. After sitting in the car, waiting for Clif to get our camera from Best Buy, Ainsley said "Daddy, you back from store?" and he said yes. She got very excited and said "Good job, Daddy!" and Clif laughed and said "Thank you Ainsley." Then she said, "You welcome, Daddy! High fives?" Clif and I were laughing hysterically. I don't know where she comes up with these things.

Finally, while we were at CVS this evening (and we were there for awhile) Ainsley found a pair of toy binoculars. She decided they were actually a camera. So she walked around the store saying things like "Teeese Mommy," "Teeese ball," "Teeese baby," "Teeese purse." Teeese means "Cheese!"

Well, that's about it. Back to work tomorrow. My mom is coming to watch Ainsley this coming weekend so we can go to another wedding. Here's to everyone having a quick week.

Camera is broken...again

So my camera is broken again, which is why I haven't really updated recently. We borrowed my Mother-In-Law's camera, but we can't seem to get the pictures on to our computer. So for now, you'll just have to read my words and wait for pictures.

Other than a concert last weekend, it's been pretty ho-hum around the White house. Work is getting really busy, so I've been focused on that. I'm also trying to get parties booked for my new jewelry venture (hint, hint ;). And with the exception of a few days, it has been so freaking hot. Summer does not usually bother me like this.

So Clif and I went to the Dave Matthews concert at Nissan last weekend. Ainsley spent the evening with Nanny and Poppa and Auntie Keek. Caitlyn even managed to get her to sleep which is a total chore these days. We're lucky if she's in bed by 10PM. We just can't seem to get on a consistent streak, that lasts forever. She was doing really well for awhile, now all of the sudden...no more sleeping. We may be trying some drastic measures soon.

The concert was awesome. We had so much fun. I did have to miss my close friend's girls night/baby shower...which made me sad, but hopefully I will go visit her soon, or at least once her little boy arrives.

Ainsley is such a little spit fire these days. She talks more and more all the time and be careful what you say around her, because she will repeat EVERY WORD!!! So Clif and I are watching our mouths very carefully these days. Yesterday, she dropped her sippy cup and Clif picked it up for her and she said "No daddy, my dink. Sisin (listen) daddy, my dink, you heard me?"

I think my favorite thing she does right now is her "oh poor pitiful me" act. It happens if we tell her no or if she hurts herself (not so bad that she's crying mind you...I'm talking like the dog pushes her down or something that happens a million times a day) or maybe she just wants extra attention. She will hang her head and huff and puff and then throw herself on the floor "crying." I'll say "Ainsley, what's wrong?" and she'll look up at me with big sad eyes, then hide her face again "crying." "Ainsley, are you crying?" I'll ask. "Yes, mommy. My hurt my finer." Then more "tears" into the carpet or couch or pillow. Until finally she pops up laughing.

It's really hysterical and shows me just what a dramatic little teenager I'll have.

Ainsley's New Tricycle

Clif and I bought Ainsley a tricycle for her second birthday. We finally got it put together and took it out for a quick spin one night not too long ago.

She doesn't really ride very long. One quick spin around the cul-de-sac and then she's ready to push. She even tells me to get on and she'll push. I tell her it doesn't quite work that way.

Today Ainsley had her 2 year check up. She passed with flying colors. She is 29 pounds 8 ounces and 35 inches tall. That puts her in the 95th percentile for height! The doctor (who, I might add, is the most amazing doctor I have ever met...we just adore her) just gushed over her and told us how wonderful she's doing. We discussed our sleep issues and after a long talk she said "You know, you've gotta pick your battles. This is her thing." That actually made me feel better about it. If the doctor is ok with her sleeping with me some nights, and I'm ok with it then it's not an issue.

Ainsley had to get a finger stick and a shot. She did really well during the finger stick. The lab techs told her to watch the red bubbles. So Ainsley was laughing and saying "Bubbles!!!!!" instead of crying. The shot was a different story...but we took her for a milkshake afterwards to make it all better.

That's about it really. It's been fairly busy around here which is why I have not updated in awhile. One small announcement I'd like to make...well it's kind of big. I have decided to become a jeweler for Premier Designs. If you haven't heard of them, they are one of those home show companies and they sell jewelry. The jewelry is really nice and so far I think the company seems really great and on the level. So if anyone is interested in having a home party...call me!
